AK-74M with 1PN51 night vision sight and GP-25 under-barrel grenade launcher

The important story of Mikhail Kalashnikov and the successful development of his military small arms is well publicized. However, until very recently, far less documentation has become available concerning current developments of Kalashnikov's Avtomat, incorporating new trends and technologies. This web page is dedicated to publicizing important information available on the Internet, to shed light on these new infantry firearms and determine details about their utilization. It is hoped that information from various sources can be presented to both inform the novice and generate interest among weapons enthusiasts and collectors. Due to the variety of sources and the inability of this web site to verify the information contained within them, we present them as is without regard to validity or copyright. Avtomats in Action welcomes interested readers to submit any corrections, suggestions, or interesting links relative to the subject matter.

Alexander Golodayev's Smart Sights
Military Parade Magazine offers an interesting look into a new concept in small arms optical aiming aids. These specialized fibre optic rifle sights were developed after experience in Chechnya demonstrated that new, unconventional techniques of small arms employment were needed.
